Feeling Stuck? Try The Healing Benefits of a Sweat Lodge

A sacred tradition of the Native American people, the sweat lodge is a unique healing ritual with deep detoxifying benefits to the body, mind and soul. It is a cultural and spiritual experience that delivers a journey of physical purification and personal initiation for the participants.

In my sweat lodge sessions, since I am an African, I base my practice on both the Native American, and the African traditions that involve prayer, forgiveness, gratitude, and invocations. During the ceremony, we call upon God–the Creator, angels, universal energies, The quantum Soul light, divine beings, the elements and other celestial beings–to mention but a few, to aid us in our intentions.

As a counselor and transformation coach, I have learned that taking care of the mind and body alone isn’t sufficient to promise progress in one’s life. Sometimes, our spirits are entangled in all sorts of codes, contracts and negative lineage-based arrangements, karmic debts, curses, etc, that cannot be resolved by psychology alone. And yes, psychology will empower one’s mind to take charge of their lives, but they have to be open-minded in order to explore what else they can do to achieve emotional, and life-force freedom.

“Taking care of the mind and body alone isn’t sufficient to promise progress in one’s life.”

I’ve met people who have worked to achieve emotional freedom, worked on empowering themselves, use their brains, know what they want, become more organized and focused, but still continue to struggle. The good news is that everything that brings us down is within us, and once we take full responsibility of our well-being, there’s nothing under the sun that we wouldn’t do to achieve freedom.

“Everything that brings us down is within us, and once we take full responsibility of our well-being, there’s nothing under the sun that we wouldn’t do to achieve freedom.”

Unfortunately, a sweat lodge is one of those things that Christians have declared homes of the devil’s work. Yet whoever told them that attaining spiritual healing is a devilish act, is the enemy. They don’t want anyone to access themselves fully for the fear of losing control over them: because when you’ve only accessed a fraction of yourself, anyone else who knows that you are more can manipulate to weaken, and then control you. If you know who you truly are, and what you can do to access the whole of you, no one can deceive you about what is, isn’t right for you.

“If you know who you truly are, and what you can do to access the whole of you, no one can deceive you about what is, isn’t right for you.”

Therefore, a sweat lodge is one of the thousands of spiritual cleansing, and healing tools that will release you from all types of bondage—of-course based on your intentions and how determined you are to follow through and heal your life.

In a nutshell, the benefits of a sweat lodge include, but are not limited to the following:

Physical Detoxification & Healing – the body is provided with antibacterial and wound-healing benefits.

Mental Purification & Healing – the mind is freed of distractions, offering clarity of thought.

Spiritual Healing – it allows for introspection and connection to the earth, to the planet and to the spirit world.

We have sweat lodge ceremonies every Saturday in the Antelope valley area, about an hour’s drive North of Los Angeles. And YOU are welcome to join us at a cost less than the price of  2 meals in a medium class restaurant.
