The “I am not that” emotional freedom method is simple, and this is how it works.
Whenever a negative emotion overwhelms you, silently or loudly say, “I am not that.” And it doesn’t matter what the emotion is or who intense it feels. Once you disconnect from it by saying the statement, “I am not that” emotional relief is instant.
We all know that we are not our experiences, emotions, achievements, identities, tribes, desires, plans, possessions or even the roles we play. And although at times we might get so caught up in the things we have, want or the relationships we are in, we are still not them. We are the witnesses of all these things. We own them. It is the egoistical mind that convinces us that we are what we have, want, or our experiences. However, we are different, in that we are not things, we are not our thoughts. We are the space that dwells in our bodies, and actually beyond space. We are pure consciousness expressing as human beings, in our bodies. When we remind ourselves of this truth constantly, we are not affected by the illusion in our worlds.
