The Magic in Life’s Pains

“Sometimes whatever you think is killing you might actually be resurrecting you.” ~ Jacinta Murray

I went under the blankets and tried to shake myself to sleep but couldn’t. I coiled up in a ball and held myself for comfort but the hurt in my heart kept oozing through my senses like dogs let out of a restricted area.

It was 10.00 a.m. on a Monday morning, a day and time when I would normally be working or taking care of other business, yet I was in bed–seeking refuge in the bedding. I had hit rock bottom yet once again. Someone very close to me, someone I loved and trusted very much had done something that I had clearly told them not to do. They had betrayed my trust, and this wasn’t the first time. The pain was rooted more on the betrayal and less on the loss. Additionally, a few days earlier, I had received news about my immigration petition. They had sent me a notice with intent to deny: and this was like the 7th time they were denying my appeals. I just didn’t know what to do. I felt as if I had subconsciously made a contract with the devil.

I was in pain…emotional pain that I started feeling physically in areas I didn’t even know could feel pain. But somewhere somehow I knew that although I felt beaten and trashed by life, I had to get my broken-self together and figure out how to move forward. It was up to me.

Why am I Telling You This?

When I got up, I prayed for help from God…the Universe. And this quote came in my mind.

“Sometimes whatever you think is killing you might actually be resurrecting you.”

I recited the quote all day because it gave me hope and inspired me to accept what I perceived as horrible for my life, as part of the divine plan, and then move forward with confidence that there was magic in this pain.

It is because of these experiences that my heart opened up a bit more. I learned to be more compassionate to others–especially those who were experiencing similar incidents. I was forced to learn how to forgive from the heart and mind–which is releasing all doubt and the accrued negative emotions from my memory.

Nothing is Permanent: Be of Good Cheer

OB-ZA278_Fight0_D_20130923205402I recently heard of a man who sued his parents for giving birth to him. He had gone through many challenges that propelled him to question the objective of his birth. In court, he accused his parents of planning to bring him into this world without his consent. Funny, because he wasn’t alive to give his consent to be born.

Much as this story seems like fiction, I understand his point of view. And I’m certain that if your life has presented avalanches of challenges, obstacles or failures at one point you’ve also wondered why you were born.

A couple of years ago, there were many months I spent several hours daily seeking answers for the multitude of problems I was experiencing. At times, I felt like breaking down but I remembered what my mother once told me; “Don’t give in and break down because of worldly troubles. You are more than them.” I picked up my broken-self, prayed and meditated for days, forgave (this took me many months) and things started getting better.

What are you experiencing today?

What is causing you pain?

Trust me when I say that everything changes. Nothing is permanent. Troubles or challenges might seem so big to handle or so powerful to pass away. However, everything that has a beginning has an end. This too will pass. Hang in there and don’t give in.

Most importantly, you can actively be the witness of all your experiences. Regardless of whatever is going on in your external environment you can internally step back and observe without creating attachments. You can observe without defining or creating relationships with any event. You have what it takes and more to let everything be as it is without categorizing it. You can watch without emotional engagement. If something needs you to take action, you can still act without letting your mind dig out for negative emotions to attach to your actions.

You can be a witness of all experiences without defining them. With such mindset, everything that happens is neither good or bad. Everything just is. And this notion works magic with experiences we would normally define as bad. Everything then becomes a passing thing. As a result, you are open to everything but attached to nothing. Your emotional thermometer is close to neutral. You are always neutral or at peace with everything. You are in control of your mind: of your emotions. You can choose how to feel without letting the mind manipulate you into generating negative emotions that do absolutely nothing for you. Remember the mind is unemployed without your attention. If the mind starts recruiting thoughts that generate negative emotions in you, move your attention to something else. Note that you are in control of your precious attention. You can choose what to give it to.

“Become like the sky. Regardless of the number, weight or color of the clouds in its space, the sky remains intact,” said my mentor.

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

By “overcoming the world” Jesus meant being a constant witness of the world and its presentations without attaching, defining, relating to or letting his mind manipulate him into generating emotions to attach to these events.

Remember that a peaceful mind is the heavens playhouse.

Be of good cheer

Sending you much love and wishing you a gracious Easter

Peace and blessings.

The Story of two Roads- A Powerful Inspirational Story

Once the storm is over

When faced challenges, remember that challenges are opportunities. Problems and challenges are man’s means to earn a living. Note that all businesses are founded on providing solutions for problems that someone once had.

The more someone designs solutions for problems, the wealthier they become. Therefore, challenges are intended to be turned into opportunities to become more of ourselves by shedding off the layers of fear and other negative conditioning in order to perceive life differently. Whatever challenge you are experiencing today, know that it is not a waste. These challenges are anointing you with the skills to overcome them. And after this storm is over you will not be the same. You will be stronger and wiser—which is something amazing to look forward to.

Keep Shinning Regardless – An Inspirational Message

be inspred

Have you ever shared your dream with someone only to be discouraged?

Have you ever been so certain about the direction that you want to take only to be told by someone you trust that you are going to fail?

If you answered yes, to any of the above questions then you understand how it feels when someone tries to blow out your light….damn your enthusiasm.

Apparently, it’s human nature for one to damn someone else’s light if theirs isn’t shinning. Remember that misery loves company, and if you are in company with people who have given up on their dreams, don’t expect them to inspire you.

Note that people who feel insecure about their own qualities will attempt to make others feel that way. They will devise mental plots to get you to start doubting yourself.

Furthermore, if one is stuck in a dark place for a while, understand that they have become accustomed to the darkness. They don’t want to experience anything different. Their brains have settled, and it normally takes some mental and emotional work for them to snap out of their illusion and start shinning their own light. Therefore, if you share your dream with someone in that mental state, be sure to receive discouragement.

“If one is stuck in a dark place for a while, understand that they have become accustomed to the darkness”

The next question is, what do you do if someone discourages you?

The answer lies in the very reason why you want to pursue your goal. Your why, should matter more than what anyone else says about you or your goals. Besides, what others think or say about you is their business: that’s their model of the world. Whatever one is projecting in their mind has nothing to do with you. Your business is what’s brewing in your own mind. Therefore, you can’t let naysayers retard your decision to move forward with your dream. Remember, no one but you has the power to put out your light. You are the master of your enthusiasm and your inner thrill, and it’s really up to you to keep shinning no matter what.

“No one but you has the power to put out your light.”

Serena Williams

Is Your Job Progressing, or Retarding You?

Screen-Shot-2013-11-08-at-1.10.37-PM

In school, for the most part we are programmed to believe that the only way to make it in life is to work for others. And although there’s nothing wrong with being employed, the danger is when we either don’t earn what we deserve or don’t ask for what we deserve because we don’t feel worthy.

In this short video, I share a few insights to inspire you to recognize your worth and then act accordingly.
