The Teacher Called, Time

What time is it wherever you are?

You don’t need to answer that question, it is just my way of soliciting your attention.

Now that I have your attention, I just wanna share something about me. Tomorrow is my birthday. And I won’t share my age because I wanna save you from information about stuff that won’t benefit you in any way. Also, I have managed to convince myself that age is just a number. And although this doesn’t stop the changes in my body from happening, over the years, I have learned that how I feel is my choice.

What is Time?

Well, most believe time is the measure of the earth’s distance and space around the sun. And others are convinced that time is a man made illusion. I won’t take sides because I am not an expert in time, but I will concur with the precept that man might have invented time. Right now in Los Angeles, California, it is about 4.04p.m as I write this article. In New York, the time is 3 hours ahead. Somewhere in the world, it is 12 hours earlier or later than 4.04p.m. If man isn’t responsible for creating these differences in time, then who is?

Therefore, I have concluded that all time really is, is change. Time represents the constant change in the universe and everything in it. And since everything is always changing, then change is the only norm. Therefore, the first lesson that time teaches us is that it is the only norm.

Time is a projection of change. ~ Dr. Jacinta Mpalyenkana-Murray

Although intangible, time consumes everything, or rather, everything is consumed in it. Time leaves no stone unturned. Time teaches us not to take things for granted. Time consoles us by reminding us that nothing lasts for ever; and that everything that comes must go. In, and with time, there are opportunities to plan, execute set goals, look back to re-evaluate, hope for better experiences, and heal old wounds…physically and emotionally. Time reveals secrets.

Time is a grand revealer. ~ Dr. Jacinta Mpalyenkana

Time also shows us that when we waste our attention by focusing on our negative past experiences, the flow of life, won’t stop to wait for us. If we spend our time indulging in negative encounters, or relating with people who trigger feelings of hatred or sadness in us, time won’t rewind itself back to an earlier slot, in order to gain us more of itself so that we can use it wisely. Time waits for no one. And the truth about time is that you can waste it. Rather you waste your attention on things that don’t progress you. Time can’t be wasted because it is not a thing.

Time propels us to keep moving forward, and progressing. Time is the best revenge, because situations and people change in, and because of it. If there were no time, there would be no change, Everything would be static and dormant. Therefore, I have concluded that time is a tool that supports our expressions in life. Time is an intelligent teacher, who especially shows us that we are supreme to it. We can not be consumed by it. We are in charge. And we can use it as we please. Yes, our bodies can be consumed by time, but we are the never changing reality that observes it. And when we get still and let time and everything moving in it play without our engagement, God is revealed.

What has time revealed to you? How do you use your time?

Is Suffering a Choice?

Suffering is an inner game we create by our power of choice.” Dr. Jacent M Mpalyenkana, PhD, MBA.

Yes, yes, I know. It doesn’t sound fair, does it? I understand because I have gone through it all. And occasionally I choose to suffer. Because I believe the lie that suffering as an emotion is stronger than me. But then I remember what one of my many mentors told me: “Emotions are not facts.” They are psychological energetic manifestations that we create for different reasons.

The point is, we mistake hurt for suffering. You could be physically, mentally, or emotionally hurt. But suffering is an extension of the hurt in whichever ways the later manifests. Suffering is also perception. You conceive a situation, define it and then perceive it according to your programming. This also implies that you use your power of choice to choose how to perceive the situation. And you can perceive the same situation differently if you re-choose.

I have been in relationships with people who were very abusive: mentally, racially, emotionally and even physically. The more I related with these people, the more I got hurt. And the more I got hurt, the more I concluded that I was suffering. No one said that when you get hurt, you also must suffer. It was my personal inner game. I choose to expand on the hurt and define it as suffering.

I also know people who are addicted to suffering. They position themselves in situations that promote immerse emotional pain, which the egoistical mind uses to convince them that they are indeed suffering. These people seem to enjoy complaining about what is wrong more than taking the required actions to change their situations.

To be fair, let’s consider people who might experience unfavorable conditions, such as diseases that render them bedridden, those in prison, death of the loved ones, etc. Even then, the human soul has what it takes to isolate itself from the egoistical mind’s cruel manifestations, and focus on the positive. We see this at work in people such as Nelson Mandela, who was imprisoned for 27 years but forgave his oppressors and chose peace over righteousness, or Steve Wander, who didn’t let his blindness shadow his musical gifts. The list is endless. These people have the same blood as we do. They breathe the same oxygen as we do, and live on the same planet as we do. The only difference between us and them is how they use their power of choice.

It doesn’t matter what you are experiencing today, know that there is a part of you that is unchangeable and uncorruptible by anything in your external and inner worlds. Regardless of how emotionally or physically painful your situation might be, you can choose not to suffer. You can be still and know that everything changes except the invisible part of you that dwells in your body: the very spirit of God, which is the only presence and everlasting truth..which is also the real you. This calls for us to discover who we truly are. Because when we know that we are not our bodies or identities, then we stop believing the constraining suggestions of the egoistical mind.

In my book, The Sanity Warrior: Becoming the Authority of Your Experiences, you will certainly be inspired. That is a given.

Everything is Temporary-The Uplifting Truth to Transcend the Negative

Everything is temporary regardless of what it appears to be in your mind or in your external world. The challenges we face are temporary. Even if something seems as if it will kill you, it is temporary. Even if it does, it only kills the body, because who you truly are, never dies and was never born. You are an extension of God, remember? And God doesn’t die.

The emotional turmoil we experience is temporary. Whatever is alive in us depends on the attention we give it. Trust what’s permanent in your nature. Remember that the one who is in you is greater than all that’s out of you.

When It feels as if Satan Has You in Stitches: What do You Do?

c11620eab249346478e7a77272f23833I recently heard the above phrase from Bishop TD Jakes, in one of his sermons about overcoming the works of darkness. And I thought the phrase perfectly describes some of my experiences, and I believe some of yours.

The first question is how would it practically feel if you had stitches created by Satan? To answer, I will use my own experiences.

At one point in my life I felt as if Satan had strategically positioned me where he saw my every move, altered all my plans, numbed my joy, chased away all my friends, created conflict in all areas of my life and delivered millions of tons of emotional pain in my heart: pain that I felt in places I never thought I had. Satan had me in emotional stitches.

I had it so bad that I visionalized him as a deliberately ugly guy with whiskers made of sharp bones, irregular sharp teeth of different sizes that had holes in them, red eyes, a tongue longer than 20 feet, a mouth filled, and dripping of brown super-smelly foam, hair with strands of red eyed snakes, and a body filled with bumps of many sizes and shapes. This fool was beyond ugly.

I also envisioned him whistling and celebrating every time I hurt.

At one point, I sat down to figure out how I could find him and then stop him from harassing my life, and….I found nothing. I realized that it was all in my mind…as a big thought that I had personally created. Then it struck me that although I couldn’t negate my struggles, my definitions of these hardships were my creations—thoughts I had believed and expanded on. And I knew that since these thoughts were in me, I had the power to just observe them without defining or creating more of them. I could actually just witness them without giving them more of my attention. And that was the beginning of my breakthrough.

Meanwhile, hang in there. Remember that no weapon formed against you shall prosper—if you just believe.

What is Authentic Success?|Weekly Inspiration

In my early 20s, I believed that success meant getting a good education, having a lot of money, making hundreds of friends and being in good health. Later on, I concluded that having good friends who were true, not only to themselves but also to me, was a good measure of success. But there came a time when I didn’t have money because I was stuck in more ways than one. All my friends started disappearing one by one. Even those I held onto thinking that they were friends weren’t: because I later discovered that they mocked, despised and judged me. So, I found myself alone. No friends, no money and in ill health.

On the onset, I concluded that I was a failure….I wasn’t successful. This conclusion almost drove me insane. The more I believed that I was a failure, the more emotionally and mentally weakened I felt. I went down the spiral of negative thinking and negative feeling until I drove myself into high levels of stress.

Then one day, my husband gave me my own dose of medicine. “You are not any of these things that you are feeling or thinking. They are in you. So be yourself without any of that.”

So, I started meditating and praying a bit longer than before. I decided that I was enough, with or without friends. I started forgiving myself and letting go of all guilt. I exercised with more focus. I changed my diet to a more plant based diet. I wrote in my gratitude journal daily. And within a short period of time I won myself back from the insanity that I had allowed to influence my emotional, and mental wellbeing.

Over the years, I have discovered that being in charge of how we feel and not letting external occurrences influence our emotional wellbeing is authentic-success. I believe it is a universal fact that’s true to every human being whether they acknowledge it or not.

Whether you are a trillionaire or zeronaire, feeling unconditionally good and being okay with everything without letting other people or circumstances influence how you feel is not subjected to anything external to you. You can do it whether you live on a tree or in a mason. In my humble opinion, that is authentic success. Authentic, because it is true to our nature. it is not based on anything external to us. It is an inbuilt attribute that’s only shadowed by our conditioning. Most importantly, it is easier to achieve any other type of success when you are emotionally well…when you feel good about life and about yourself.

In my book, The Sanity Warrior: Becoming the Authority of Your Experiences, you will be inspired by the many personal stories I share. You will learn thirteen practical and proven emotional intelligence strategies designed to help you release the grip from negative conditioning and then become the authority of your experiences.

Loss gives a chance for an upgrade.”

~ Dr. Jacent M Mpalyenkana-Murray, PHD, MBA

There is always something good in every situation. The law of duality ensures that good and bad happen simultaneously: they support each other in being recognized. Note that you will never define or know what’s good without knowing what is bad. Good, aids us in identifying and defining bad. Day helps us to identify night. So, no matter how bad you’ve perceived your current situation to be, there is also something good at the other end of your perceptive instincts. It’s a matter of drifting your attention from what you’ve perceived as bad to the possibility of identifying what is good.

In this video, I explain more.

Remember that even a dark, stormy and thundering sky eventually clears up. Everything that comes must go. Every “thing” is temporary. This too will pass…you will see.

The Magic in Life’s Pains

kelly-sikkema-530092-unsplash-1-1170x585

“Sometimes whatever you think is killing you might actually be resurrecting you.” ~ Jacinta Murray

I went under the blankets and tried to shake myself to sleep but couldn’t. I coiled up in a ball and held myself for comfort but the hurt in my heart kept oozing through my senses like dogs let out of a restricted area.

It was 10.00 a.m. on a Monday morning, a day and time when I would normally be working or taking care of other business, yet I was in bed–seeking refuge in the bedding. I had hit rock bottom yet once again. Someone very close to me, someone I loved and trusted very much had done something that I had clearly told them not to do. They had betrayed my trust, and this wasn’t the first time. The pain was rooted more on the betrayal and less on the loss. Additionally, a few days earlier, I had received news about my immigration petition. They had sent me a notice with intent to deny: and this was like the 7th time they were denying my appeals. I just didn’t know what to do. I felt as if I had subconsciously made a contract with the devil.

I was in pain…emotional pain that I started feeling physically in areas I didn’t even know could feel pain. But somewhere somehow I knew that although I felt beaten and trashed by life, I had to get my broken-self together and figure out how to move forward. It was up to me.

Why am I Telling You This?

When I got up, I prayed for help from God…the Universe. And this quote came in my mind.

“Sometimes whatever you think is killing you might actually be resurrecting you.”

I recited the quote all day because it gave me hope and inspired me to accept what I perceived as horrible for my life, as part of the divine plan, and then move forward with confidence that there was magic in this pain.

It is because of these experiences that my heart opened up a bit more. I learned to be more compassionate to others–especially those who were experiencing similar incidents. I was forced to learn how to forgive from the heart and mind–which is releasing all doubt and the accrued negative emotions from my memory.
