Three Steps to Become Enthusiastically Focused


So, let’s assume that you’ve determined what you want, and why you want it.  You have also established that you have all the practical and mental resources you need to execute the required tasks towards achieving your goal. However for some reason, you can’t focus. You are not inspired to take action. And you keep wondering what could be wrong. In this article I share three tips to help you become enthusiastically focused.

Well, you are not abnormal. For the most part, lack of focus is all based on fear: the fear to fail…the fear of being disappointed especially if you’ve embarked on projects in the past that haven’t succeeded. So what do you do? Here we go!

  1. Go back to the drawing board and establish why you want to achieve that goal. What will you emotionally or financially benefit if you achieved your goal? What will your rewards be? Be as specific as possible. Write it down. Read your reasons, and re-write them if that’s what it will take to be clear. Don’t rush. Take your time.

2. Establish what you will lose if you don’t take action. Will you lose freedom, friends or status? You know the answers. Write these answers down. The idea is to be honest with yourself.

3. Determine the first step you will take towards achieving your goal. Make this step simple and easy. The simpler it is, the better it will be for you to embark on it. For instance, if your goal is to write a book, set a goal as simple as writing half a page a day, or writing for 10 minutes. Make the first step fun and easy. Do not overwhelm yourself.

If you follow the above steps, you will get very clear about why you want to achieve that goal, and then get focused to taking action. If you write everything in a “contemplation note-book” (get one if you don’t already), focus, won’t be a problem. The idea is to remove any stress or fear that you’ve attached to your goal.

Last but not least; I once heard this saying: “God will give you food but he won’t cook it for you.” If you want something, you have to do something about it. You have to focus on it. There are no shortcuts. There is no magic. Nothing happens if nothing moves.

4 Psychologically Proven Ways to Manage Your Time

  • We all have 24 hours in a day. However, it is amazing how others have been able to achieve more and others less. In this article I share 4 psychologically proven ways to help you manage your time more efficiently.
  • Identify areas of your life where you are wasting time and try to reduce these. A good way to do this is to log everything you do for a week in meticulous detail and then examine your record to see how you use (or misuse) your time.waste-time
  • Develop a regular work routine. Keep your work space tidy so that you can work efficiently – it’s hard to do this if things you need to find are buried under a pile of papers.Neat-and-Organized-Work-Desk-700x466
  • Work to schedule so that you meet deadlines in good time; don’t leave everything until the last minute

  • Use a time log

One useful way to eliminate wasted time is to use a time log. First you need to make up a chart for the next seven days divided into half hour intervals starting at the time you get up and finishing at the time you go to bed. Write down what you did in each half hour of the day for the next seven days. Choose a typical week.

At the end of the week examine your time log and ask yourself the following questions:

  • Are there any periods that I could use more productively?
  • At what time of day do I do my most effective work? Some people are most alert in the morning, whilst others concentrate best during the afternoon or evening. Schedule your most important tasks for these times of day.

EFT Session to Stop Resisting, and Just Allow Yourself to be.

When we stop resisting our situations and just allow ourselves to fall into whatever seems to be the problem, the problem tends to dissolve. And the idea is not to stop resisting with an intention to dissolve the problems, it’s rather to allow whatever is bombarding you to invite the feelings that need to be activated without focusing on an outcome. This also means that we are 100% present; not in the past, or the future. We are just allowing…now…in the moment.

Here’s an EFT Session to help you get to that place of allowing.

I’m feeling it

It’s not enjoyable.

I’m prompted to resist the negative feeling

I’m tempted to find a solution

I’m tempted to keep running from these negative emotions

I’m tempted not to cry

I’m tempted to do something about this problem.

It sucks

I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired.

I can’t be still

I have to do something about this problem

This is not fun

This is not fair

I have to do something about this problem.

Round Two:

This is exhausting.

Maybe I should just be

What if I just dive into this pain?

What will really happen?

I know I won’t die.

I’m already feeling it.

So, I shouldn’t really resist it.

It’s okay and normal to be sad

It’s part of growth

I guess I’m just going to dive into this pain

I’m tired of resisting it

I’m now allowing myself to feel it

It’s okay to just surrender to the process.

I’m now surrendering to the process.

In body, mind and spirit.

I hope this helps. Tap as many times as you can and very soon, you will feel free of the negative emotion by just allowing yourself to be. Remember that whatever we stop resisting remains with nothing to feed on: based on the fact that negative emotions tend to feed on our resistances.
